Tauranga Police are investigating immediately after a Bayfair Procuring Centre employee was the victim of a major assault yesterday.
“The gentleman was going for a walk during a crack when he was allegedly assaulted by a group of youths in the vicinity of the Farm Road bus interchange just immediately after 3pm,” Tauranga Location Response Manager Senior Sergeant Nick Lewer reported in a assertion.
The alleged attackers fled and the sufferer was left with a critical eye injury, law enforcement claimed.
“The Farm Road region was active at that time and we are urging anybody who saw the assault or can help us determine those people concerned to get hold of us.”
Law enforcement said there has been an enhance in incidents relating to young people congregating in the vicinity of the shopping centre.
“In response we have amplified our presence in this location, and we go on to perform with each the buying centre and area and regional authorities to tackle these ongoing concerns,” Lewer explained.
An investigation is also underneath way into the problems of a bus on Farm Street just right after 5.15pm on 12 May.
