Flare jeans, Y2K-inspired, platform pumps and more

Spring fashion is on the horizon.

Though our furry friend Punxsutawney Phil predicted six more weeks of winter, we are ready for bold and bright spring looks.

“GMA” tapped industry experts such as fashion editor and creative consultant Lauren Caruso as well as veteran Nordstrom personal stylist Danielle Gilbert, to help shed some light on what’s to come this season.

Trend 1: Y2K everything

Stylists agree that Y2K fashion is having a major resurgence.

“There’s definitely some crossover between hyper-minis and the year 2002, but the major early-aughts trends aren’t just back — they’re taking over,” Caruso told “GMA.” “This means fishnets, low-rise everything, halter tops, and basically anything else Nicole Richie wore on ‘The Simple Life.’

She continued, “I’ve seen this mostly on social media, but also during NYFW street style.”

Trend 2: ’70s flare

Wide-leg flare jeans and all-around ’70s vibes are going to be a huge hit for spring, according to Gilbert.

“Think the 70’s vibe, but updated with perfectly placed pockets,” she said. “Pair with a tee and a blazer for a polished look or a feminine blouse. You can even add a tank and woven lightweight cardigan or vest to keep that ’70’s inspired look. I’m seeing this trend among celebrities and influencers.”

Trend 3: Go green

While green is certainly a color that can transcend seasons, spring is one of the best times to shine in everything from pretty pastel tones to cool punchy hues that pop.

Trend 4: Pumped up platforms

Thanks to top designer labels such as Versace and Bottega Veneta, pumped-up platform shoe styles have been parading up and down fashion week runways, campaigns and huge social media platforms such as TikTok.

Now, many department stores and mass retailers have started rolling out similar picks that can go from casual strolls to special occasions.

Trend 5: Size up

“Think preppy Tommy Hilfiger back in the day, but now oversized and chic,” said Gilbert. “Pair it with a straight-leg jean, make it sporty with a jogger or even wear it as a beach cover-up.”

She continued, “From solids to stripes, this is a no-brainer trend to wear for spring. This trend is something I’m seeing all over Pinterest.”
