Are you also one of those people who have tried every trick in the book to get rid of shaky hands while applying eyeliner? Because I am. Whenever I watch a YouTube makeup tutorial my sole focus is on how steady their hands are while applying eyeliner and mascara. Most eyeliner tricks are about shaping the perfect wing with the help of multiple objects like a spoon, card, or tape. I might be in the minority when I say that my go-to look isn’t usually a winged eyeliner. I actually prefer puppy eyeliner much more and for that, the eyeliner has to be really thin. When I saw the image of Elf Intense Ink Eyeliner, I knew I had to buy it just to test out a theory.
What is Elf Intense Ink Eyeliner?
It is an eyeliner that ELF has advertised to be the “Blackest Black”. The reason why I decided to buy it wasn’t its pigmentation. It was because of the thick size of the eyeliner pencil. The eyeliner pencils nowadays are only getting thinner and sleeker which made me wonder if they are only made for experts. I thought a jumbo-sized pencil is bound to give a good grip which will result in more steady hands.
Performance of Elf Intense Ink Eyeliner
Application: I tested by drawing the thinnest eyeliner on my upper lash line and it did pass the theory of big pencil giving good grip. While this eyeliner is good for casual liners, it is also excellent for winged eyeliners. The tip of Elf’s Ink Eyeliner bends a little if applied pressure which is great to turn a regular eyeliner into a cat eyeliner.
Packaging: ELF’s packaging has always been one of my favorites. It just looks really sleek and expensive. The pen itself is also really smooth to hold and you can tell that it’s made of fine material.
Pigmentation: Like many products that promise superlative results only to then fall short of expectations, Elf did it too. No doubt the pigmentation of eyeliner is good but it’s nothing extraordinary.
Wearability: I had more expectations about the wearability of the eyeliner but it was only good for about 6 hours. It’s good if you’ll wear it in this time frame but definitely won’t last for 10 or 12 hours.
Final Thoughts
Out of many eyeliners I have used, I liked this one for its easy grip. People like me whose hands aren’t that steady often find it risky to apply eyeliner. One slight uncoordinated move and then all you’ll do for the next half hour is equal both liners. With Elf’s Intense eyeliner I have gained more confidence in applying the eyeliner. I would say it’s actually great for beginners.
