After over two years of remote working and cancelled Christmas parties, Team Tatty from Kent to London were well overdue for a get-together and where better to go than the current home of Misshapes: The Making of Tatty Devine and recent inspiration Royal Pavilion?! Hopping on coaches and trains, we took a day trip to Brighton and Hove for the return of the Tatty Devine BIG DAY OUT! Full of tasty treats, historical hotspots and lots of laughs, let’s take a look at Team Tatty’s highlights…
First up on the agenda is a trip to Hove Museum and Art Gallery for fluffy pastries and a perusal around our Misshapes exhibition. Armed with the inside scoop and hilarious backstories on the archive, Co-founder Rosie’s highlight was this trip down memory lane. Oh, and the unintentional dress code – did somebody say long skirt summer?! Shop serious statements and the stars of 20 years of Tatty Devine with our Misshapes collection.
With a jam-packed (yes, scones are coming up) day ahead of us, we hopped on a coach, said goodbye to Hove and made our way to Brighton.
Dropped off on the seafront with a bingo card and spending money, it was time for a Tatty Devine takeover of Brighton. So, what did Team Tatty get up to?
To the pier! With arcade games galore and plenty of prizes, it turns out Team Tatty has a lucky streak. Two pence pieces were abundant over on Meg’s machine – “I won FOUR keyrings and a bouncy ball” – a fiver well spent! Alongside meeting the (almost) full team for the very first time, Faye was feeling fruitful with a watermelon keyring win!
Exploring the lanes was Flo’s fave, her highlight? Stopping by our superstar stockists Pussy Boutique for a look at their treats. Talking of treats, things got tasty with ice creams all around, from Naia and Nicolle’s Hello Kitty tub to Lucy’s supersized Whippy Ice Cream – she is eating for two!
Full of fish and chips, it was time to pop to the Royal Pavilion with a stop by the gift shop for a look at Tatty Devine X Royal Pavilion. Lucky enough to get a private talk from colour expert and Pavilion-pro, Dr Alexandra Loske – we had insights into the rich and eclectic design of the seaside pleasure palace. With exclamations of “LOOK AT THE LIGHTS” and “Is that dress made of paper?!”, Fizz and Rachel were IRL incarnations of the heart eye emoji on our look around.
For Charlotte G, a highlight of a magical day was the hilarious debates around whether it’s cream or jam first over our final stop of afternoon tea at The Little Tea Shop – it is totally jam BTW!
